James Morris Mullaley
Born 9th March 1865. The spelling MULLALEY is unique in the family tree. His siblings are called variously Mulelly, Mulely and Mullaly. When he married Emma Burgess (b.1856, d.1923) in 1885 His name was spelt Mulelly, which is how it was spelt for most of his siblings.
In his early days he was a plumber (as was his brother Thomas and father John, but he later became an electrician. He died when only 38 years old in 1903.

Thomas was born in 1884 in Salford. His parents were both dead by the time he was eleven. He was brought up initially by sister Alice, 5 years his senior, but it seems that he ran away and was found sheltering under a bridge by a Mrs. Hulse who took him home and thereafter cared for him up to the time of his marriage in 1910. Mrs Hulse, a widow, had a son Gerald of about the same age as Tom, and they became firm friends for the rest of their lives. They were both taken on as apprentice plumbers and eventually Tom got a job with "The Council" ended up as a Manchester Corporation Water Fittings Inspector. During the First World War he joined the Army Cyclist Corps .
Contrary to above he is shown on 1901 census living at 14, Walton Street, South Manchester with his sister Ellen and brother John.

Notes for George Nye:
George was a periwigmaker and barber surgeon. According to the Parish Register of December 1st. 1731 he was paid a shilling for letting blood from the "Widow Harwood". In the same month two men were paid 1/6 for going with the same widow to Johnson's. Goody Johnson was paid 4/- for tending to her. There was also 6/9 to Eliz. Harwood for "ye poor" and later again 18/- to Ed Slater for keeping Widow Harwood. The total expenses for the month were £20-14s-8d.
His will dated 1755 was proved by 19/12/1763.
He left his property, sometime known as the Sign of the Chequer Inn, in the High Street of Pulborough, (in the tenure of John Lane Mercer), to his wife for her lifetime, then to his sons John and James to be sold and the money, (together with that raised from the sale of his personnel possessions), divided equally between all his children. As well as the two sons by his first marriage George and Thomas were to get an extra ten and five pounds respectively.
His wife Martha was appointed Executrix.
The witnesses included William Harwood. The will was not executed until after his wife died.

Thomas's parents could not be found on the Parish Records at Shipley. He was recorded as Churchwarden in 1678. There is an ivestigation at present to find out if he was descended from the Thomas, brother or Benjamin Nye who migrated to New England in 1620. This Thomas was given land by his father because the eldest son had gone to America.But this family came from Biddenham, Kent. There was a Thomas who was a resident of Cuckfield but who married a Susan Gasson at Bolney in 1679. The Americans said that these were related to their Benjamin and were married at Angmering. But I was unable to find this in any of the Angmering Parish Records which are extant. Because Georgius was christened 9 years after the birth of Johannes in 1678 I suspect that he came from a second marriage but cannot find any real evidence of this. If this were the case the Cheyneys are not our ancestors.
